Hermione was born on September 19th, 1980 into a family of muggle dentists. Unlike most students at Hogwarts, Hermione attended a Muggle School (and was the class know-it-all) until she entered Hogwarts in 1991. When she was first notified, she went to diagon Alley and bought every book she could find, making her a walking encyclopedia of spells. When she first entered Hogwarts, she had no friends because of her natural bossieness. However, after being saved from a 12 ft. Mountain Troll, she made friends with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Later in the year, she helped Harry and Ron reach the chamber holding the Philosopher's Stone. In fact, it was purely because of her that they managed to get through Snape's test of logic, though wasn't able to accompany Harry to the final chamber. In her Second year, Hermione was the first student to figure out why many students were turning up petrified, at the expense of being petrified herself. Her third year at Hogwarts began with the purchase of her first pet, a cat, which Harry describes as "either a very large cat, or a very small tiger", named Crookshanks. At school, she discovered the cat had hidden powers, of which she still doesn't know the extent of. In her fourth year, she gave Harry undieing support in The Tri-wizard Tournament, and discovered secret feelings between Her and Ron. In her 5th year, Hermione was named Prefect along with Ron, and spent the under a dual identity, between being a Prefect and organizing meetings of an illegal Defense Against The Dark Arts club. She rounded off the entire year by helping Harry, Ron, Neville Longbottom, Ginny Weasley, and Luna Lovegood break into The Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries, where she helped the rest of the group defeat the minions of Lord Voldemort, and then watched Harry and Headmaster Albus Dumbledore defeat The Dark Lord himself.
