Ponda Baba first met Dr. Evazan in the Correllian system. He was being hunted by the bounty hunter, Jodo Kast. The Aqualish thug saved his life and  the two became partners. He was planning to turn him in for the price on his head. However, he discovered that the partnership was much more advantageous and they became smugglers for Jabba the Hutt. During a brief stop in the Mos Eisley Cantina, he picked a fight with Luke Skywalker. This angered his mentor, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who sliced off the Aqualish's arm. Dr. Evazan attempted to re-attach it, but the surgery failed and the two parted ways. they didn't stay apart long, however and the pair hid on Ando, where they tested Evazan's latest invention, the mind swap machine. Through its use, Ponda's brain was put into the body of the Ando senator, giving him back the working arm that he wanted. Baba was last seen 5 years after the Battle of Endor, trying to excact revenge on the doctor.
