Chewbacca was born approximately 200 years before the battle of Yavin, into a large family, consisting of his father Attichituck (Itchy), his sister Kallabow, and his cousins Jowdrrrl, Dryanta, and Shoran. He was 13 when his father took him on the Wookie coming-of-age ceremony or hrrtayyk on which he built his bowcaster and killed his first katarn with it. When Trandoshans attacked his village he casually walked up to the commander and ripped his arms out of his sockets. He freed all of the prisoners the Trandoshans had taken including a beautiful Wookie (if there is such a thing) named Mallatobuck. At the age of fifty he left Kashyyyk to see the galaxy and look for employment, which he found. There were plenty of oppertunities for a technically skilled Wookiee such as Chewbacca. Ten years before the Battle of Yavin, Imperials captured Chewbacca. During his enslavement, he swore he would keep a low profile, so as not to anger the Imperials. But when slavers captured several Wookiee children, he got the children to a getaway ship and left himself behind on the slave ship. An Imperial TIE fighter pilot Leiutanant Hansel "Han" Solo found the injured Wookiee slumped in his ship cockpit chair. Chewbacca was put to work on a new wing for the Imperial Hall of Heroes. His overseer started beating him with a force whip.  Han jumped in and saved Chewbacca, but was punished and kicked out of the Imperial Navy. Chewbacca, according to his people's customs, owed Solo a life debt. Han at first refused, but after Chewbacca followed him all the way to Devaron, he exepted. Han Solo already knew how to speak Shriiwook (Which translates to "Language of the Treepeople") so before they knew it they were hauling spice for the Desiljic Hutts. "Chewie" was over two-hundred years of age and was often teased of this by Solo, but Chewbacca kept him out of many suicidal scrapes. Chewbacca and Han Solo got a new ship that left there old vessel, The Bria, in the dust, it was won by Solo in a sabacc match against the galaxy famous gambler known as Lando Calrissian. After aquiring the spacefreighter, the Wookiee and his Human captain headed to the core worlds to seek fortune, with a stop at Chewie's home planet.  There Chewbacca was married to Mallatobuck. While Chewie was of cruisin' the Corporate Sector Mallatobuck gave birth to a son, Lumpawarrump. After the famous botched spice smuggling, Chewbacca found a way to pay off Jabba Desilijic Tiure, when he unknowingly made a deal that changed his and his partner's lives by introducing him to a Jedi Master named Obi-Wan Kenobi, a farmboy named Luke Skywalker, the protocal droid C-3PO, and the Astromech droid R2-D2 looking for safe passage to Alderaan. Upon finding that the planet was destroyed, Han and Chewie became involved in the infultration and disabling of the Death Star. Chewie convinced Han to turn around to Yavin 4 to help with the fleet against the Death Star. Chewbacca and his human captain carried out various missions for different employers, and almost died when Wedge Antilles took off with the Wookiee still dangling from the ventral maitenance bay. On the Rebel bay on Hoth, he and Han shot down the imperial probe droid that was tracking the rebel alliance, starting the battle of Hoth. After the Hoth epidemic, Chewbacca, Han, Leia, and C3-PO fled to Cloud City, Bespin Only to find it had been over-taken by Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and the Imperial Stormtroopers.  When Han Solo was incased in carbonite, Chewbacca was taken to Jabba Desilijic Tiure by Leia in disguise as the bounty hunter Boussh.  there he kept as a prisoner, and was nearly pushed into the pit of carkoon, to go through an agonizing 1,000 year digestion process. But after escaping Tatooine, the Rebels journeyed to the Forest Moon of Endor and Chewie fought alongside the Ewoks. After the rise of the New Republic, Chewbacca saved Bakura from the Ssi-Ruuk and defeated Nagai Slavers on Kashyyyk.  Years after the birth of the Solo twins, during the Black Fleet Crisis, Chewie went to Kashyyyk to participate in Lumpawarrump's hrrtayyk, only to find that his son was a careless, A+ wimp that was afraid of the kantarn that he was supposed to hunt at the Well of the Dead during his hrrtayyk.  Chewie blamed himself since this was the first time that he'd been to see his son since he was born.  When Chewbacca found Han was taken on board The Pride of Yevetha , he, his, son and a Wookiee strike team, boarded it.  On board his son beat down the gaurds ferociously, the mission served as his hrrtayyk, afterwords he changed his name from "Lumpawarrump" to "Lumpawaroo" ( his nickname still remained "Lumpy.")  Then Chewie's nephew, Lowbacca ("Lowie") enrolled in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy.  Knowing that very few humans could speak his language, he built Lowie EM-TD, a mini translator.  In the On-set of the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, He and Han made run to Serindepedal, not knowing that it was targeted for destruction.  Chewbacca was loading the refugees on to the ship when the Serindepedal moon was brought down close to the planet.  Chewbacca loaded the remaining Refugees on to the ship, but left no room for himself.  He told Solo to take off without him.  As the moon neared the planet, Chewbacca let out a horse cry of battle.
